When Jimmy Buffet plays the Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall Sunday, August 23, it will be telling what he says between songs about being partners in the deal to buy the Trump Marina Hotel-Casino and convert it into Margarittiville.
The deal was set, and then with the downturn in the economy, they cut $100 million off the deal, and it was still set to go through, but now they want to renig on it completely, saying that the Trump organization was moving all its assets to its other two casinos in the city - Trump Taj Mahal and the Trump Plaza, both on the boardwalk.
In the meantime, Trump made a deal with a bank to buy back all three of his Atlantic City casinos, which he had lost during bankruptcy, when bondholders forced him out.
Now he's back, and with a lot less debt service, so he doesn't have to sell the Marina if the deal doesn't go through.
But we were hoping for Jimmy's deal to make it, so we could get the T-shirt and flower print shirt retail store concession at the new casino.
